Meet Ken Rezendes | Ken Rezendes for Nevada State Assembly District 4
Kenneth Rezendes was born in Baltimore, Maryland in August of 1961 and arrived in the Las Vegas valley in 1964 with his Mother, two brothers and two sisters. His family lived in the cabins at Lorenzi Park for a brief time and then moved to Curtis Park (Smoke Ranch & Decatur Blvd) shortly thereafter. Kenneth received his education from the Clark County School district attending Ronzone Elementary, Brinley Jr. High and Western High schools. He also attended Clark County Community College for a semester before accepting a management position with Wohl Shoe Company, as a manager of the Regal Shoe Store at the Meadowood Mall in Reno, Nevada. A year later he was back in Las Vegas managing their store in the Meadows Mall, and has called Las Vegas home ever since.
Las Vegas Business Owner:
Kenneth has a strong business management background having worked five years with Regal Shoes and two and a half years at Citibank. In 1989 Kenneth became a licensed insurance agent and started his own independent agency - A Dependable Insurance Agency - in 1996, all within the Las Vegas valley. As a small business owner, and resident of Nevada for over fifty years, Kenneth understands the needs of Southern Nevada and has witnessed the transition of Las Vegas going from a small town to the thriving, multi-cultural community that we live in today.
Active in the Community:
At a very young age Kenneth volunteered at the Postosky gym, which is now the Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas, helping to complete various projects and prepare for the eventual opening of the club. Upon its completion, he was a referee for their youth basketball games. Little did Kenneth know that his volunteering would only be the beginning to a lifetime of services within the Las Vegas community. He would go on to coach little league baseball with the Lone Mountain Little League, as well as other league teams during the winter baseball season. Kenneth was also a volunteer with the Trauma Intervention Program of Las Vegas, which allows individuals to donate their time to be with those who are going through traumatic situations in their lives, almost always due to the loss of a loved one. Kenneth was appointed by Ruth Johnson as a Commissioner for the Clark County School District and served on the Attendance Zone Advisory Commission for three years.
In November of 1991 Kenneth married his wife of 24 years, Sherry Matlock in Las Vegas, NV. Kenneth and Sherry have two children; Jared and Morgan who are both currently full-time college students. Kenneth understands the importance of every child receiving a quality education and believes that Nevada will continue its comeback to make sure every student has the necessary skills that they need to be successful.
